Conceptually and visually the original Tron seemed kind of cool, especially when I was a kid, but I saw it again recently and I was reminded just how bad it actually was. Tron feels more relevant now in a more computer savvy world, however it also exposes the fact the whole Tron world makes no sense whatsoever.
This new movie barely tries to explain itself at all. And I think it is smart to avoid even trying to deal with it. It's pretty much just a beautiful montage of flashy lights set to some Daft Punk music - in 3D. Take it for what it is, because it really doesn't pretend to be anything else. The CG young look Jeff Bridges just looks plain creepy.
